Hair Myth- Can Honey Make Your Hair White? Or Cause Grey Hair?

So, some of you have been asking me if honey can make the hair turn white, cause premature grey hair or can it damage the hair. Well, the answer is, NO.

Raw Honey can naturally and gradually lighten the hair because it has an enzyme called glucose oxidase that produces a natural Hydrogen peroxide but it is very low so it can’t damage your hair or lift the color of your hair like a chemical bleach can.

I have been using honey on my hair and I didn’t notice that it turned my hair white or anything. But, however if you are very particular and worried about this issue, you don’t have to use honey on your hair, or if you do, you don’t have to use it regularly if you don’t want any color changes on your hair.

So if you guys know me, I really like using coconut oil on my hair and I like to DIY it most of the time, but there are days that I use ready made hair masks on my hair because it is just practical to use in times to where I am not at home or just simply in a hurry.

DIY Organic Coconut Milk Hot Oil Treatment-How to Extract Coconut Milk Oil from the Coconut Fruit

For this you’ll need to use the old/mature coconut fruit and not really the young coconut. Here is the illustration.

So, you will have to remove the husk of the old coconut just like this.

After peeling off the skin of the coconut you will see the coconut shell part of it or it’s what we call “Lahing” here in my country.

Step 3:

Break the coconut in half. It is going to look something like this.

Step 4:

Grind the coconut meat using a Coconut Grinder- You can find different versions here:

Coconut Grater or Shredder Wood with Stand-

Gitachi Electric Heavy Duty Coconut Shredder 2in 1 High Speed-

Coconut Grater-

And then after you grind it. You’ll have something looking like this.

Step 5:

You’ll be needing a bowl to store your coconut milk and then a cheese cloth to filter out the coconut milk from the coconut fruit.

Step 6:

So place the grated coconut milk on the cheese cloth and squeeze out the coconut milk.

And then here is the PURE Organic Coconut Milk

Step 7:

Go ahead and filter out any coconut meat that was maybe left in there.

And here it is. You can use this as is on your hair or you can also make a coconut milk hot oil.

If you want to make a Hot Oil out of this just simply heat this up in the pan for 3 minutes until the consistency turns thick and then immediately remove it from the stove.

The consistency should look something like this.

And you have your very own Coconut Milk Hot Oil that is ready to use to soften and grow out your hair.

So some of you have been asking me to on how to make a detangler spray at home so here it is. All you’ll need are these ingredients.  There are two ways to do this.

For the First Method  you’ll need:

2. Argan Oil ( Any oil of your choice)-

3. Water

4. Spray Bottle Container-

The proportion is totally up to you, so for me I used about 1/3 cup of water and I will be adding in 7 pumps of conditioner and then mix it, after that I’ll be adding in about 3 pumps of Argan oil in the solution. Lastly, I’ll pour it in a spray bottle and then shake it for the last time so that everything is properly combined and then it is ready to use.

For the Second Method you’ll need:

1.Leave in hair conditioner or a Hair Oil- or

3.Bottle Container-

Once again the proportion is totally up to you, but for me I used about 1/3 cup of water and then I added in 7 pumps of my Hair Coat Oil. Lastly, I transferred it in a bottle container.

How to Make Natural Okra Hair Conditioner For Hair Growth,Dandruff & Soft Hair-Beautyklove

Okra has a lot of health benefits and is great to use internally and externally. When used topically on the hair this can promote hair growth,it is also amazing for treating dry scalp and dandruff naturally. This as well serves as a natural conditioner and a leave on conditioner for the hair and you can use this as a hair mask as well.

Here is the video for reference:

Step 1: I used 10 okra for my hair, but it really depends on how much you want to use.

Step 2:  Cut the top and the bottom part of the Okra.

Step 3: Slice it in the middle and then put it in a pot and add 2 cups water.

Step 4: Let it boil & cook it for 30 minutes and mash it while cooking to let the mucilage come out.

Step 5: When you are done cooking it take it out and strain it to get the gel out from the Okra because that is the most important part of it.

Step 6: Let it cool & add in 3 tablespoons of Almond Oil and mix it all together.

Step 7: Store in a bottle container.

Step 8: You can apply it on your scalp if you are aiming this for hair growth, to cure dandruff & dry scalp and you can use this all over your hair if you want to use this as a conditioner. I’ll leave it on my scalp for 30 minutes and then wash it off using my shampoo and conditioner after.

  • You can use this once or twice a week.
  •  Do not use if you are allergic to Okra.
  • The smell is not pungent so this is probably one of my favorite hair masks to use on my hair.
